Problem

Choosing how many parcels, which courier, which service, and which dimensions was slow and easy to get wrong when rules lived in people’s heads or brittle scripts.

Approach

Encode the merchant’s dimension, tag, stacking, and country rules into automation; keep outcomes inspectable in the packing flow; migrate the existing PHP algorithm to Node.js without inventing new business rules.

Solution

Automate parcel generation from product parameters and tags (including stacking limits such as up to three of a tagged SKU), destination country, and courier/service selection. Separately, reimplement a packaging and carrier selection algorithm from PHP to Node.js with the same decision rules.

Architecture / technical highlights

Base.com account automation and Node.js services around shipping decisions. Implementation details and private APIs are not published.

Key features

  • Parcel generation from dimensions and product tags
  • Stacking rules for tagged products
  • Country-aware courier and service selection
  • Packaging and carrier algorithm migrated PHP to Node.js

Challenges

Stacking and multi-parcel rules had to match how the warehouse actually packs, not just how products were tagged in the catalog.

Result

Label creation and carrier choice became automated for the configured rules, cutting manual packing work and reducing human error. Specific metrics are not published. The add-ons themselves are not public products.
